Torotel Products Awarded Lockheed Martin Small Business Award
Lockheed Martin – Missiles and Fire Control recognized high performing small business suppliers and employees at the 13th Annual Small Business Awards. Torotel Products was one of the businesses to receive the Small Business of the Year honor.
During the awards ceremony in Orlando, Fla., on March 17, 2008, Lockheed Martin representatives stated the following as to why Torotel deserved the award.
Torotel surpassed HELLFIRE program performance requirements through excellent customer relations; outstanding cause and corrective action implementation; and the development of a superior product design. Torotel’s innovative design enhancements reduced cost, eliminated three weeks of lead time and improved product reliability.
Torotel maintained a 100 percent quality and delivery rating in 2007, which included 7,183 assemblies. Torotel successfully supported HELLFIRE and Longbow Missile programs by ramping up their production from 160 per month to 240 per month, and is on schedule to ramp up to the required 400 per month without cost impacts. Torotel is extremely responsive to program needs and focused on customer satisfaction and delivering results. When issues arise, Torotel quickly travels to Lockheed’s manufacturing facilities to see how they can assist. The business relationship Lockheed Martin has with them is strong, open and an honest one. Torotel has demonstrated a commitment to customer success and wishes to expand upon future business opportunities as they become available. Torotel understands and implements lean initiatives, and their design ideas to reduce cost on the HELLFIRE product line is exactly what Lockheed Martin needs.

New Product Announcement
Insert-molded Inductors
Torotel Products has released a new series of Insert-molded Inductors. These surface mount components were designed to satisfy the industry’s increasing demand for power conversion in severe environments, such as marine, military and aerospace. Both the SGB and SGD series use distributed gap toroidal construction to minimize EMI. These new inductors are molded in a high-temperature, thermo-set polymer with heavy-duty gull wing terminals to provide the ultimate in shock and vibration resistance and thermal performance.
