Construction Types

Torotel offers a wide array of products constructed with a variety of mounting and termination configurations. Our toroids are primarily designed around MIL-PRF-27 grades 4, 5 and 6 reliability.

Mounting configurations
Torotel products are offered predominately in surface mount, through hole and flexible leadwires, with alternate types of terminations available.

Termination configurations
Our terminations include hermetically sealed, epoxy encapsulated, open construction, and compression and transfer molded.

• Hermetically sealed inductors and transformers are hydroscopically shielded from external environments and offer maximum stability. They are used almost exclusively in military capacities, including drawn metal cans with glass-to-metal headers and in magnetic shielding.

• Encapsulated products offer protection, dimensional stability and physical strength even in demanding environmental conditions. They are suitable for numerous applications, and are the most common type of package for magnetic components.

• Open construction toroids are a cost-effective approach for commercial clients. They are widely used in the manufacturing of commercial switch mode power supplies

• Compression and transfer molded transformers and conductors are available in this rugged, minimally sized packaging. These toroids can be used in various industries.
